Schmidt, ABD’de düzenlenen bir sempozyumda, mobil cihazların güvenliğine değinerek, Google markası olan Android işletim sisteminin ‘iPhone’dan daha güvenli olduğunu’ öne sürdü.
Google’ın patronu Eric Schmidt, Orlando kentinde düzenlenen Gartner Symposium/Itxpo sempozyumunda iddialı açıklamalarda bulundu. Schmidt, yakın zamanda yeni versiyonu sunulacak Android işletiminin, Apple’ın amiral gemisi iPhone’a kıyasla güvenlik avantajı sunduğunu belirtti.
Gartner araştırma şirketinden bir analistin sorusuna yönelik açıklama yapan Schmidt, Android’in iPhone’dan daha az güvenli olduğu düşüncesini reddetti ve ‘işletim sisteminin dünya genelinde 1 milyar cihazda kullanıldığına’ dikkat çekti.
Android’in, mobil uygulama platformu Google Play ile yeterince uyumlu olmadığı, bu nedenle güvenlik açığı yaşandığı eleştirilerine cevap veren Schmidt, ‘Android cihazlarının uygulamalarla uyumlu olduğunu, uygulama güncelleme kanallarının kötü amaçlı yazılımlara izin vermediğini’ belirtti.

Raporda, saldırıya maruz kalan cihazların sadece yüzde 0.7’sinin iPhone olduğu ifade edilmişti. Aradaki büyük farkın, Android’in çok fazla versiyona sahip olmasından kaynaklandığı düşünülüyor. Android cihazların kullandığı işletim sistemi versiyonları farklı olduğu için, Google Play ile de yeterince uyum sağlanamıyor ve açıklar oluşuyor.
Eric Schmidt ise sempozyumda yaptığı konuşmada kullanıcılara güven vererek, “Android güvenli… Yenilenen hizmetlerle Gmail, Chrome ve Android kullanmaktan çok daha mutlu olacaksınız” dedi.
